Florida police said that an Uber Eats driver was murdered and dismembered by a man who was on parole with a long criminal history and affiliations to the MS-13 gang.
Pasco County Sheriff Chris Nocco said Tuesday in a media briefing that 59-year-old Randall Cooke had dropped off his wife and drove to complete some gigs for Door Dash and Uber Eats on April 19.
Cooke had texted his wife the whole time until he said that he was going to make one last drop at about 6:30 p.m.
She never heard from him again.
His wife called police later that evening and filed a missing persons report. During their investigation, police reached out to Uber Eats. They provided investigators with Cooke’s last known GPS coordinates, and they went to the address.
On April 21, investigators contacted a resident at the house who cooperated with them and provided them with security video from the home. The video showed the missing man delivering food at the house, but the video was cut off after that moment.
Police identified 30-year-old Oscar Adrian Solis as the roommate of the man who provided them the video.
“You actually see on the following day the suspect, Oscar Solis, was carrying trash bags” to the bag of the house, said Nocco.
When they asked for permission to go through the trash bags at the apartment, they found human remains. They also found “substantial evidence” at the home, including Cooke’s wedding ring and car keys.
Nocco did not offer many details about what they believe Solis did, but he called it “horrible” and “gruesome” and added that it had been traumatizing for police to investigate.
Solis was arrested and charged with homicide.
He went on to say that the suspect had moved from Indiana to Florida in January and had a voluminous criminal history that included charges of battery, burglary, possession of stolen auto parts, drugs, resisting law enforcement, home detention placement, burglary, aggravated battery, and battery on detention staff.
“He supposedly stabbed somebody several times while he was in prison in Indiana,” said Nocco.
He also said that Solis was “affiliated” with the notorious MS-13 gang in Indiana. A booking photo of the suspect showed that he had many facial tattoos. When he moved from Indiana, he neglected to register as a parolee in Florida, which is also a crime.
“This is demonic. This individual is, what he did, was demonic,” added Nocco.
Police are trying to find two young adults who left the home about an hour before the murder of Cooke according to surveillance video.
He went onto describe Cooke as a “hard-working guy” and a loving husband who was simply making the last delivery of the night before he was killed.
“This person just yanked them in and killed them,” said Nocco.
A GoFundMe campaign was established for the surviving family.
He also said the roommate of the suspect was suspicious because it was the first time that Solis had ever taken out the trash.
